The theme from the 1962 classic film "Lawrence of Arabia". Composed by the legendary Maurice Jarre and originally performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. The musical score for the film won "Best Music" at the Oscars--one of seven won by the film.

This particular version is performed by the piano duo Ferrante and Teicher and is taken off one of their CD's that had movie soundtracks. I own none of this copyrighted material.

  • Can you even IMAGINE a movie like this being made today? There once was a time when movies were made that had real characters, intelligent dialogue, a plot that you actually had to pay attention to. Where scenes were longer than 5 seconds. Other movies of 1962: "To Kill a Mockingbird", "The Manchurian Candidate", "The Miracle Worker". People stood in line to see these films. Look what was showing Summer 2011: Harry Potter # 8, Scream #4, Kung Fu Panda 3, The Hangover 2, Iron Man 2.....

  • But now we have "Warhorse"

  • bla bla bla everything old is good everything new is bad bla bla bla

  • @farmerne actually, it's a book. 7 pillars of wisdom.

    but yeah

  • @ryantheking12 Definitely agree with you. This movie, given my age, is at the top of my list because of the job it did in storytelling based on the writings of T.E. Lawrence in "Revolt in the Desert."

Each era and generation reflects its times and the stories it tells and some are brilliant cinema, others - not so much.

  • Great movie.

Unlike most people I'm not going to write that all movies today are bad though. Because I'm not blinded by rose tinted goggles.

  • @farmerne, actually the politics of today could never allow for the film to show Arabs as actual human beings fighting our modern allies the Turks. I am more concerned about the politics getting in the way than the quality of the film as a whole if it was done.

  • @farmerne

I totally agree, e.g. Transformers 3: no plot, no story, no characters. just a 2 hours boring fighting scene in a city...

  • i keep singing born free in my head

  • @farmerne It's funny how in the future there'll be someone who will say the same about the movies of today. Humans always walk the same path....the old generation criticize the new generation...until the new generation will become the old one and will criticize the newest ones. Personally...i love the old good movies as i love the good new ones. Respecting the past doesn't mean hating the present or the future..... men fools.

  • @farmerne

I believe that it was Kung Fu Panda 2

And the Harry Potter series, including Deathly hallows part 2, have all the characteristics you listed. I dont need to IMAGINE, I just have to look search around for a good movie instead of reminiscing and complaining,
