@mooneepondskid In swedish, a double consonant usually indicates that the vowel preceding it is "short". The U is therefore not pronounced Oo. It is pronounced somewhat like the U in "ombudsman".'
The stress is on "upp".
Both of the A's are pronounced like in "car".

I love Sweden, I lived in Uppsala for 2 years and it was absolutely GREAT !! I miss Sweden.

boho... don't be such a baby... I've been living in sweden all my life and I'm damn nice! Just cause we don't look like we're gona eat peoples noses when were talking to them... but if you want people to be nice to you ..be nice to them.. so simple... although there are bad ones... but what country doesn't have bad people... think of that next time ;)

which peaple? Sweden is almost inhabited. There are only 9 million peole in a surface comparable to France's one. Moreover, 1 million are born abroad.

I was in Uppsala last summer and I really loved it. Sweden is one of most clean (cities) and beautiful (nature) countries. And I don´t agree, swedish ARE friendly people (I don´t wanna compare it with any other nation, it´s useless). Jag älskar dig, Uppsala:-)
