For you experts out there, Marines are fully aware about both rifles, they both have their ups and down and we do know that the AK has a slight advantage over the M16 because it rarely jams but you can't take away our accuracy. The first test should have been to do a 8 hour footpatrol with the AK & the next day do a 8 hour footpatrol with the M16. Wait a couple of days then tell them they are going to be doing a 12 hour footpatrol & choose which rifle they're going to carry.

First off, I respect the gunney, but anyone who tests an argument with such a huge bias looks like a fucking asshole. It doesnt make you a communist or Russian if you prefer the AK over the first M16. It is widely believed that the AK-47 is the better of the two since the first M16 was chalked full of issues. Theres no doubt that the new style of AR rifles today are better but the AK definately beats the 1964 variant of the M16. Also, I dont know who that AK-47 "expert" was but he sucked...a lot

The problem is not the m16 but its the 5,56mm bullet. I've heard a lot of war footage where soldiers say that 5,56 doesn't affect the ennemy the keep coming forwar. On the other hand the 7,62 delivers a lot of kinetic energy that crushes everything on its way
