The final video in the snowman series. Where I create a base for the yeti to stand on. I had some problems with the deformation tool which you will see during the last half of the first minute which I resolved by rotating the mesh... Still trying to figure out what was going on there that caused it to not work. I finish up his hands and call it done at the 10 hour mark.

There's still a few things I would do to him if I were to spend more time on him. Finesse some parts specifically in the hands and overall clean up some of the fur transitions.

Thanks for watching.

  • Fantastic work! I especially like how you modeled your snowman's geometry..the arms and hands for example..I haven't seen it done like that before. I am used to seeing box modeling, amazing to get such a coherent geometry from extruding individual edges and all.

I am a 3D modeling hobbyist and not a fantastic modeler but just like to have fun with it. I use Blender and just started using Sculptris. Any general pointers to doing the fur? Brushes etc.? I am working on a furry guy now ;-).

  • @steeveesas Awesome. I hope the furry guy went well or is going well... sorry about the late response. Super busy :-/ I haven't used sculptris in a long time. The best thing to do if you can't just create a stamp like I did in zbrush is just build of some volume and use a sharp brush and dig both in and regular strokes of varied length. Try stylized hair as it will showcase a bit better in a sculpt. Happy sculptrising.

  • If this guy don't have a job how can the new guys out there even have a hope.

  • @killrathy Thank you for your compliment. I am working full time and have been for bit now.

  • @akadotseven yeah glad to hear your working i thought i read in one of your comment you goy laid off. Did you get proffesional training or what?

  • @killrathy I did say that but that was awhile ago. Soon after I wrote that I scored a gig with a great company. I went to college for Animation and illustration. I have almost 3 years experience in the gaming industry and about 6+ years of 3D experience beyond that.

If you're interested here is my finished furry guy! Now you see why I came across your video in the first place...Abominable Snowman.

My project was much less detailed than yours but I'm just a hobbyist and not a professional. I had my guy 3D printed and then I painted him.

You can see the end result on shapeways under "It arrived" forum and the Abominable Snowman topic posted by steeveesas
