Kenneth Williams and Charles Hawtrey sleuthing as undercover store detectives. It may be old but it still tickles my funny bone.

  • I think I would have preferred a snooty and rude remark from Kenneth Williams compared to a fake smile and bad scribble for an autograph! ;-)

  • I should upload a clip of him fiddling with his knickers :-)

  • Absolute legends...Happy Birthday Charles Hawtrey, and I will never forget the time when i was very young when Kenneth looked down his nose at me and said "Certainly not" when i asked for his autograph!!

  • mmmmm kenneth is so sexy

  • They both also had strange relationships with their mothers. They both adored their mothers for most of their lives but when they started to get old and infirm, it strained the relationships a lot. Hawtreys mother developed senile dementia and Williams mother became bed ridden needing constant care. Caring for their mothers when they had so many other problems became a real burden on both of them.

  • There is an actress who does a stage show that touches on the life of Charles Hawtrey and she explains that Hawtrey changed at some point during the filming of the Carry Ons. She spoke to one person who knew him before who knew him as a warm, kind and generous person and someone who knew him after who said he was the most mean, nasty, miserable person you could imagine. So something happened to him in between that made him horrible, probably to do with his heavy drinking.

  • In reality Williams and Hawtrey did not get along very well. Kenneth Williams was very repressed by his homosexuality while Charles Hawtrey was very open about his. Williams resented the fact that Hawtrey was able to express himself so freely while he could not.

  • Can't imagine how unsuccessful the carry on movies would've been without these two.

  • this is priceless

  • Please do. I love it when he is trying to sit down and his corset creaks most alarmingly.
