  • @ByronSW32 The .454 is nice and all but it makes me wonder why the hell did smith and wesson skip that.

  • @christlubas agreed. the 500 does lack versatility, but thats not what its designed for. Its more of a hunter's weapon, not home defence. Fly fishers tend to use them too. I dont think the 500 is really intended to be used on people. lol. Its like trying to use a Barret 50 Cal on a person, its not what its meant for. and the Cassull is sick! I personally like the .454.

  • @ByronSW32 Yeah that is my preference(44) i know you can fit a round in a case but

knowing that my 44 Magnum(Yeah magnum not special loads)will stop an intruder and be CCW i think the 500 lacks the versatility.BTW future magnums eh? how about a 360 Super Mega Casull Action Express Magnum? a 357 with the ballistics of a 300 WSM but with the same old recoil of the good old 357 would totally kill all lol.(IF they could make one of those)

  • @christlubas yeah. the 44 is a great weapon too no doubt. Everyone's got preferance. I just like the intimidation factor of having the S&W 500. Although the long barrel is the only way to go with the 500. I wouldnt settle for anything less. I have a few pictures of my stepdad's 500 rounds next to the 44 rounds. you can fit the whole 44 round into just a casing of the 500 round. pretty crazy stuff! I wonder wat the future will bring when the next set of magnums come out. lol

  • @ByronSW32 That is the big reason why 44 Magnum > 500 for me, still accurate with a 3 inch barrel at 25 yards(Intended range) packs quite a punch even with Lighter loads(Ex:44 Magnum Winchester STHP)

  • only good reason to have a snubnose is for the easier to carry factor. The snubnose is better for carrying concealed or simply just the convience of being able to take it everywhere. But seeing as I am from California, that is illegal anyway, and so is all of the other fun guns that other states get to have. =(

  • @christlubas I know. obviously the weight of the longer barrel plus the built in compensator makes for a much smoother and controllable shot. Thats the point of having the long barrel. You can actually hunt accurately with it. The snub barrel's are pretty useless, because they are sooo squirely. The day we brought out the S&W, somebody had snubnose BFR and he was all over the place. very uncontrolled. We left about 30 sec's later, because his rounds were riccoceting all over the place too.

  • @ByronSW32 try that with a 2.75 inch barrel and say that it did not kick you.

I honestly prefer the "venerable" 44 Magnum 629 short barreled.

  • @christlubas Ive shot the 440 grains with the 10 1/2 inch barrel, and the kick still wasnt too bad either.

  • @gruntspy44 with a 275 grain and a long barrel coupled with a good compensator.

it wont be too harsh like those 440 grainers
