He's talking about the british banger, I assume the fast food/supermarket variety. I'm lucky enough to live near a great butchers, which I'll going to more often after this.

And as he say's in the later section, he was diagnosed as morbidly obese, and did something about it. The anti-veggie show was a way back in the Meades canon.

Good point around 9' that the words beef and pork don't reveal the connection with the living animal. I guess this is why Kentucky Fried Chicken became KFC - to avoid the image of a poor bird frying to death.
