From the outside looking in, this always struck me as something absolutely bizarre about American politics. All over the spectrum people will whole-heartedly and enthusiastically support a campaign without knowing the first thing about their party's policies or election promises. Can anybody enlighten me?

While he's pretty reasonable and certainly entertaining, I disagree with him primarily on the assumptions upon which he bases his arguments. If you do accept his premise, he's mostly correct. But I'm still waiting for justification as to why people need to be forced to support social programmes that they don't (rationally or otherwise) want to pay for. And I disagree in general that individuals should vote based on pure self-interest rather than on well-reasoned, philosophical grounds.

I live on planet Earth; in the United States. You know, the country where real unemployment is still high. Where deficit spending is the moral thing to do. Where we send our nation's youth to die overseas for a radical populous who don't care. Where politicians, such as President Obama, play Cronie Socialism.
