My uncle that owned the restaurant would not charge truckers or state troopers if they were good customer's for their meals. I would often visit the front counter and steal candy that they had there. I remember one time I did that in front of 2 state troopers eating nearby. I was so scared with my pants full of candy and ran away. Nothing happened to me though. I did get the chance to fly in a helicopter from the state police...one of those bubble choppers. Keep truckin' ...good memories!

I have always had respect for truckers. I wanted to be one when I was a kid. I lived in Pennsylvania, born in Pittsburgh, and spent many weekends on the P.A. turnpike traveling to visit relatives. The troopers, the truckers lingo on the c.b.(we had one in our car) was cool to listen to. My uncle had a restaurant off of the P.A. turnpike called "The Maple Pot" so as a kid, I got to talk to truckers and state troopers. Way before the internet and cell phones and cb's were the shit!

@laredotornado111112 Indeed, Laredo is a beautiful town. But there is a bad element there...mostly on the other side of that rio

@ReporterHQ It's hard to deal with all of the stupid drivers that cut me off and the like. Actually driving the truck down the road is a piece of cake. Anyone can drive a semi forward in a straight line, it's making the turns and negotiating the turns and backing up that is difficult.
