WATCH THIS IN FULL SCREEN

And I know it's long, but if you're going to watch it, watch the whole thing. It's worth it.

I'll have a link to the second part of Wings for Marie / 10,000 Days at the end of the video. Since they're both part of the same song, this description is the same on both videos.

This is not the entire song "10,000 Days". See my video "Tool - Wings for Marie (Lyrics and Meaning)" for the first part of the song.

These are two of my favorite songs by Tool. They're about Maynard James Keenan's mother, Judith Marie. Judith was paralyzed when Maynard was 11. She stayed paralyzed until she died 10,000 days later ("10,000 days in the fire is long enough; you're going home"). She kept faith in God the whole time.

The first song is more about Judith dying, and then Maynard accepting it and his mother's beliefs, which often conflicted with Maynard's. The second song is more about Judith's life, beliefs, etc. in general, and Maynard seeing the good in the passion that his mother had, while not always agreeing with her.

The lyrics are pretty self-explanatory. Lots of Christian references.

R.I.P. Judith Marie. May your strong spirit and mind live on forever.

  • I used to think that Tool was the most lyrically powerful band ever. I then came to a realization that it isn't Tool. It's Maynard. Deny if you want, but if you do, listen to A Perfect Circle before you make final conclusions. This man is a lyrical genius. I'm glad to hear such refinement in Tool's music. So much more power now than there was in Opiate. This song is amazing, translated or not. R.I.P Judith Marie

  • @primusucksbad no idea what you're talking about. i know what the song's about; so does anyone who knows anything about maynard's personal life and what he reveals of it in his music. i was informing someone else that their (forced, read in) idea was based on misremembering a (translated) bible quote. I don't "use" wrong "interpretations," or grant error a fancy title like 'interpretation.' i also don't think the song begs for a whole lot of interpretation; it's kinda direct.

  • @o0CemeteryGates0o Tool doesnt want to be on itunes lol

  • @takennedy84 I totally agree with you 100% even though puscifer isnt my favorite thing maynard has done I love him as a lyricist none the less

  • I wish i could hug the poop out of maynard, i saw apc recently and oh man was that a good show..

  • Rest in paradise Judith<3 You gave birth to an entire new god himself.

  • @NailSun23 well I agree to a point. Every member of Tool is a master, and Maynard should lat them get credit too (And he does), Tool is identified by Maynard. Tool is not just Maynard, but Maynard is the face of Tool, the depth. He is the difference between a square and a cube. He is what adds a third dimension to Tool that bands like Green Day simply can't capture

  • @tietensex Sorry to hear about your friend, and I agree, there couldn't be a better choice.

  • @o0CemeteryGates0o Dude I hate that. I guess Tool hates iTunes. Not that I blame them...
