Young gun, Will Schusterick, PDGA #29064 has found himself atop the leader board at the 2010 USDGC. He stayed away from any big numbers and minimized his mistakes. Will has been touring more extensively this year including a great finish at the Japan Open in June. The final clips of this blog showcase some close up drives by Avery Jenkins, Garrett Gurthie, Robbie Bratten, Paul McBeth, Isaac Chaney, David Wiggins, Jr and Will himself.

  • Why would you show people throwing big distance shots and not show the flight of the discs. What a waste.

  • @commentsarefun - thanks for logging in to watch The Disc Golf Guy Video Blogs. I attempt to bring a variety of things to those that can't experience where I am. I'm sorry if you can't see the flight of each throw - for more of a detailed explanation check out my response to 'peacefuljeffrey'.

  • What's up with the guys spinning all the way around on their runups? Seems goofy.

  • @peacefuljeffrey - The main reason why I shot the footage the way I did was to expose people to different run ups and throwing styles. Many big distance players use a 360 turn-around while a few use a standard X step.

Also, my HD Flip cam has virtually NO zoom which is why I focused on the close up footwork and form rather than where they landed. Most shots went between 500 and 600 feet for what that's worth.

  • McBeth 4:13 can throw so freaking far its unreal! its a shame he didn't make it to the finals

  • Thanks for all the great interviews. Just picked up DG this past summer and I've been watching everything I can find. Looking forward to this sport growing more and more. Taking the time and effort to put all this content out and letting us get to know the pro players will bring folks to tournaments and encourage us to get better. Well done!

  • I watched Will win the USDGC today in South Carolina. Will is a superb guy, completely down to earth as you could want, and his talent and gameplay were staggering. Will has amazing game for a guy only 18 years old, it was insane to watch.

  • @thediscgolfguy Fair enough. Thanks for the response. Sorry if i came off as negative I just love to see discs fly. And I wish i was there to see it myself. I am too poor to travel to tournaments and I had to work during the Beaver State Fling here in Oregon. I am definitely going next year though. Cheers
