With B.O.L.T. and Richard Quigley's abilities in court, the CHP decided to quit fighting him and focus writing tickets and collecting money from motorcycle riders that, for whatever reason decide not to learn the information contained on www.boltofca.com

Quigley died about a year and a half after this film was recorded. September 15, 2007. The 6th Appellate ruling, mentioned in the video, in effect, agreed with BOLT, that helmet violations are correctable tickets, though the decision was technically a loss in order to keep the CHP from being held in Contempt of Court. The decision was published in in January of 2008.

Thanks to Current TV for airing the video. Special Thanks to Kaj Larsen for the excellent work as a correspondent, pulling a brilliant quote from Richard Quigley's mind.
"The government cannot make any objective standards for helmets without taking on liability..." Dont miss the full quote in the video.
Without the intelligence and dedication of Richard Quigley and Don Blanscet, motorcyclists would have their Rights violated constantly with no hope for an end. With the knowledge of their work, you are free to choose to an incredible degree, what your helmet looks like, or if you will wear one at all.
If you see riders wearing a helmet the size of a music CD, thank them for helping to make you a little more Free. What are you prepared to do? www.boltofca.com

  • Before Quig died of his Lymphoma he had beaten the helmet law to the point the court as much as said the law did not apply to him in his county.

  • Something else just occured to me. Maybe if the producer hadn't been wearing a helmet he would have seen the oil slick (he hit) and wouldn't have wrecked his bike in the first place? (just a thought) But in any event shouldn't safety be your own lookout, not big daddy governments?

  • @SmokeRingsPipeDreams You are wise. I have personally seen where accidents have been caused or injuries made worse by the helmet. Oh, the Insurance industry or NHTSA don't keep track of these stats.

  • " ....the government cannot make any objective standards for helmets without taking on liability, and since they are expressly forbidden from taking on any liability, they can never make an objective standard for helmets. Without an objective standard it all becomes ad hoc and arbitrary. Ad hoc and arbitrary is the foundation of vague law. Vague law is Unconstitutional." Richard Quigley

  • The interviewer is a good guy, but he said something really dumb, when he asked "where do individual rights end and where do state rights begin". STATES DO NOT HAVE "RIGHTS". Only humans have individual rights, states only have powers, which are limited by out constitution. These cops and state representitvies are all criminals by disobeying the constitution they took and oath to uphold.

  • @BOLTofCalifornia Plus the fact that saftey equipment often makes people braver than they should be. Besides, it's about freedom, not government or do gooder should have the right to tell you, or anyone else what to do with their own body. They haven't the right.

    Cheers,

    Kel

  • "Why not just wear a helmet?" Because he doesn't feel like it, and it's his body, not the governments! And it's nobodies business if he chooses to go without one. It's called freedom, something big government doesn't care about.

  • Did the state trooper actually say " once it becomes law you have NO rights " WOW

  • I wear a helmet and full gear because I choose to as a personal safety precaution, I have to agree that personal safety is not a place for the government to intrude. so if your stupid enough not to wear one you should have the rite to take the full bodily responsibility for your own choices.
