December 3rd 2011 The Shelly Company and the Kent Chamber of Commerce brought Santa to the Kent Festival of Lights. This years Theme was "RUDOLF, DIESEL" ( A Semi Tribute to the Founder of the Diesel Locomotive) A Large Deer with a RED NOSE was placed on the top of the cab with two escorts on the sides along with Flaming Exhausts and Hot Radiator Fans on the hood. Santa and the Mayor,Jerry Fiala were delivered ON TIME to a Crowd of 2000 + who had waited at the Main Street Crossing. The Engineer Bob Rohal again played Jingle Bells for two miles with a modified horn valve as he has since1997. This tradition of horn playing is something he originated for this event and has been copied through out the country at this time of the year rather than , A Shave and a Hair Cut..or Rapid Horn Blowing.
