If you look at 0:31 you can see that actually the link is attached to the metal, and since the metal bar is a loop, you can just slide your hands together. Props on proving how unobservant you are! Basically, she falls in the water, slides her hands together, and the chain falls off.

how is that chained? the chains are just wrapped around her arms and they're taught because she's keeping her arms. if she put her hands/arms together the chains would just slip off.
