  • Brings back memories from 1971-74. I don't think the bagpipes played Rule Brittania back the with the band, but they did play Scotland the Brave and the band joined in with them late in the song. Going to the Rose Bowl is cool. We only got to go to Macy's, Indy, 6 NFL games, Miss America, St. Pete, etc., but not the Rose Bowl.

  • @Someloke8895 I think I can speak on behalf of the students saying we agree

  • I think my only main issue with this is, Bagpipes should stick to Bagpipe tunes (eg, Black bear, Highland Cathedral, etc) Having Rule Britannia with bagpipes doesn't work too well, in my view.

That's not to say that these pipers/musicians aren't top notch, but it just doesn't fit.

  • WOW still a highlight to hear the Marching Band!! Graduated over 30 years ago from LHS and have always spoken so highly of the Marching Band. Very very cool!!! Keep it up!!!

  • thank you (=

  • thank you

Not to mention they are uncomfortable in long parades...like the tournament of roses parade when you live in Pennsylvania and aren't use to temperatures above 40 in January. The rest of the band wears imitations, if you will. You may also notice other differences on closer examination. For example there are different ranks some members wear on their sleeves. As for the pipers feather bonnets...they now all wear them. Hope this helps (=

  • There are two different style because some of them are real bearskins and very expensive. With the size of band, we don't have the funs to buy real bearskins for all members. So typically, its upperclassmen, section leaders, first chairs, and our student senate members for get the real bearskin. Real bearskins are also not made in America...so if they crack we have to send them to England to get them repaired.

  • Why are there two different styles of hats?
