maybe b/c the bars were changing so much in those years? the space in between and such? But still you had the Gurova mount, Ricna release, Shushunova release, Ma dismount, and counter-Kim salto being invented all in the 80's. Plus the amazing mounts of Dudnik and Strazeva, and amazing routines of Gnauck, Silivas, Strazeva, Ma, Fan Di, etc.

80's gymnastics was so politically motivated. boycotted olympics and judges giving out penalties for offenses that no does. USA should've won bronze here

Damn right Klotz had "a few slack knees" - she had probably the worst form at these games, on all events. So sloppy.
Dobre on bars , on the other hand, was perfect..

Shushunova had the same landing on the vault that Silivas had off the bars, both got a 10...They both had a slight foot slide.

thanks no problem-more to come! i know, i am a massive 80's gym fan especially 89 worlds. but your right bars was pretty run of the mill. i think the chinese sorted that out in the 90's and Kim Gwang Suk!
