lots of ppl keep dats in barebottom tanks. just have some good filters and you won't see the fish shit.
plus, it's the sand/gravel that will trap shit and leftover food to make the water dirty. so actually barebottom + good filters are better than your idea.

first of all it hides the fish shit for you dont have to do a water change ever fucking day and as well it looks better on camera and helps with ph.
