The nonprofit Partnership for Public Service presented nine Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals, also known as Sammies, at a Washington, D.C. gala on September 15, 2011 to outstanding public servants for their remarkable work assisting Americans in need, keeping us safe and advancing our national interests. Dr. Norman Coleman with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services was one such recipient of this award.
