@Scotty1137 - same tune but the lyrics are completely different. Only real similarities are that both are talking about leaving Ulster but different parts of the province.

@DaithiBOC its the Gaelic version of "Paddy's green shamrock shore"

Oh how this song brings me back to the joyful time I spent as a youth in Gweedore, Derrybeg and Bunbeg. I´ve forgotten the text, even though I love the song.

what is she singing about? Pretty song. -
It is a love song to his home area Ghaoth Dobai(Gweedore) written by a man emigrating to America. He mentions the mountain, Earagal, which dominates the area , the lake in Dun Luiche and the :"Green Glens of Gaoth Dobhair" which provide the songs name. Written by Francie o'Maonaigh, dad of Mairéad ˜Ní Mhaonnaigh who sings this. The Gaoth Dobhair area is really really beautiful.

Esta música me transporta a épocas de lejanos ancestros, épocas de fogatas , de cuentos, de historias de viajeros, de guerreros, de meigas.... y los violines... que sonido maravilloso... toca las fibras mas profundas del alma... Gracias
