This video discusses the difference between Crimp and Compression BNC connectors. BNC connectors are uses to connect your RG59 or RG6 video cable to both the CCTV DVR and the security cameras. Crimp BNC connectors really do not provide the performance or the protection you need in your BNC terminations. Using the old school crimp style BNC connectors really means you are crushing the metal sleeve of the connector onto the cable. When you do this it leaves a lot of room for moisture and dust to enter the termination area. So you would not want to use a crimp BNC connector in any outdoor installations. The compression BNC connector is providing a 360 degree compression termination on your cable. Which means you are getting 65 pounds of pull force and the protection you need in poor weather environments. Compression BNC connectors are really the only way to go to ensure performance, total protection, and longevity out of your CCTV terminations. I hope this video was helpful for you.
