It's a lyric from "Funny Girl" where Barbra Streisand tells to Omar Sharif that she wants to be like Sadie (The married daughter of one of her mother's friend). And she sing a song about it!

Sookie says "Sadie, Sadie, married lady. meet a mortagee". They are lyrics from 'Funny Girl' which is what Lorelai says next.

I can't understand what Sookie says "Sadie, Sadie married lady..." and then what? It drives me nuts every time I see this episode. Can anyone help?

do you think she is partly crying because she really wanted Lorelai to be with Luke? Because later she says that she always expected Luke and Lorelai to end up together...
