On May 14, Rice University bid farewell to the Class of 2011. The institution celebrated its 98th commencement by awarding a total of 1,599 degrees to 1,550 students. With their diplomas in hand, the graduates were encouraged to pursue new challenges and find happiness by New York Times columnist David Brooks.
