I must admit: Martha Modl should not have given Lieder-concerts.You are all right, it's
painful! Just look at Youtube for e.g. Rita Streich and Teresa Stich-Randall with e.g.
Schubert-Lieder (Nacht und Traume?) and you hear (and see!) how Lieder should be treated. Both Streich and Stich-Randall were excellent in opera just as well. Some opera-
singers are good in both, some should stay in their best discipline.
