Full range is for lower back. The way he's doing them is for hamstrings/glutes.

I prefer to go lower myself, a bit more ROM. But in this game you need to find what suits you and your bosy, there is no "perfect" method - it's what works for you. Some guys have stiffer hammies and can't go right down without bringing more lower back into the equation.
