also while you are trying to 'train' your hair to stick to the side, it helps if you get a bobby pin just before you go to bed and just pin your bangs to the side that you want them to stay. That way overnight while your sleeping your hair will be placed firmly to the side and it will probably stay like that in the morning. Just keep on doing that, i swear it works.
