From the footage in this video, I would estimate take-off and landing speed of the Su-7 at ca. 100 m/s, or 360 km/h, or 200 kn - quite a handful to fly!
The legendary "sabre dance" of early U.S. swept wing fighters may have been like an "aerobic workout" for pilots of this!

You can estimate the take-off and landing speed from the footage provided, and I would estimate it a ca. 100 m/s (360km/h or 200 kn), so quite a handful to fly. The legendary "Sabre Dance" of the early US. swept wing aircraft must have been an "Aerobic Workout" for crews of that airplane! Who wonders if they considered themselves the best of the best.

The wings are pretty sharply swept for a strike aircraft. It looks like it had high take off and landing speed, and I'll bet it needed a long runway. I'm also willing to bet it was a handful to fly it--especially at lower speeds. I can see why they developed a swing-wing variant.

Great video! Love the old MiG's and Sukhoi's!
A veteran of the Indo-pakistani wars, and from the first 2 mach fihter-bombers in service. A good and sturdu fuselage that can take hits and a strong turbojet, but the high fuel comsumpsion of the AL-7 make neccessery in most missions to carry drop tanks that minimise the already small weigh of weapons could carry (2000kg) but it opens the way for the redesighn in the form of the Su-17 that was much more efective.

Today Fuel Consumption for Modern Turbofan Engines in same class as AL-7 are Much better! like, AL-31F (Basic model from 1981) from Su-27.
Fuel Consumption: 67 kg/(kN·h) military power (74.5KN)
or
Pratt & Whitney F-100-PW-229 (Latest Version) from F-15E Strike Eagle.
Fuel Consumption: 77.5 kg/(kN·h) military power (79.1 KN) ...
Generaly speaking AL-7 only suffer from small Service life of only 200 Hours.
Just like Pratt & Whitney J57 from F-100 Super sabre or F-8 Corsair.

Its True,i would like to add
For that time Al-7F-2 Trubojet engine have preety normal Fuel Consumption per kg/(h·kN). 98.9 kg/(h·kN) military power.
Problem is in Big power (75.0 kN),so More KN (Power) multiply with kg/(h·kN),and we come to the large numbers.
bit comparison.
-(SNECMA Atar 9C) from Mirage III Fuel Consumption: 103 kg/(kN·h) military power and only (42.0 kN).
-(J79-GE-17) from F-4E Fuel Consumption: 87 kg/(h·kN) at military power (52.9 kN).
(J-79 is newer engine than AL-7)
