The video is from a panasonic camcorder and the sound is from a sony audio recorder. It was taken during a monthly recital at the church, which was in preparation for a larger concert several weeks ago.
Was this Moller instrument unusual in having at least one manual "tremmed" to produce that theatre pipe organ sound? I know that Reginald Foort's travelling pipe organ was capable of classical as well as theatre sounds but surely this was a one-off?
Nice playing here though and a musical favourite.
The organ does have two ranks which are generally associated with theater organs - an 8' tibia and an 8' kinura. Those two ranks, along with a harp, make the "gospel" division of the organ, which is floating and can be assigned to any manual. In addition, I know there are "tremulant" drawknobs for several of the other divisions which provides the effect for them.
Actually, no, it was not unusual in the least. I had a chance back in 1990 at the National AGO convention in Boston to speak with the head voicer and designer of this instrument. The Gospel division was a real "must have" for this instrument. Believe it or not, they were actually excited to revisit some of their theater organ roots! MP Moller actually designed and constructed Reginald Foort's Traveling organ (which I think is in Pasadena, CA) that's still in existence.
Nice sensitive playing. Was this camcorded in a concert?
