so if you're doing wheel bearings on a RWD truck or car MOST LIKELY this is the setup on the front wheel bearings, non sealed bearings anyway, so here's just a neat little trick I learned from my auto shop teacher and it sure came in handy today to not ruin anything. enjoy!

  • Are you doing automotive as a career in life?

  • @ALEX62592 actually I just do my mechanic work for family, and close friends, which can keep me busy enough to make a living lol, I don't charge much but I get so much work I can cover the bills to a point. I had wanted to be a mechanic for my career but changed it to be in the computer field, still working on that

  • Green blue grease is synthetic. Ford considers these bearings lubricated for life. I've got damn near 250,000 miles and still on the factory bearings and grease

  • @backwoodsctryboy oh ok that makes sense! the bearings and rotors were replaced by the dealer and they didn't pack the bearings very good there were some pockets that were thin on grease between the needle bearings, oh well I packed them good and put it all back together! thanks for the info on the grease!!!

  • Don't you think you otta put a brand new seal in it even though the old one looks good. At least that's what I do.

  • @jg875102 yeah it'd be better to do a new seal but this is the easy way to knock it out with out this method and if it looks good still you can use it. up to whoever owns the vehicle to replace the seal or not, I usually just reuse em and clean em up and put fresh grease on em, seems to work good.

  • @SPAGHETTIMONSTER1 : grease seems to be one of those repacker kind of things, the same grease under different names.

  • @prozanine , I just checked, it was Quakerstate multi-duty high temp wheel bearing grease, part # 39001 and it's green. the tube I have is several years old, maybe they have changed it?

  • @SPAGHETTIMONSTER1 : Quakerstate is gold in color. at least the tubes we get.

  • @GrandCaravanSE : green comes from castrol oil. its a dark green in color.

  • don't just wipe the grease off, use a solvent to clean all the old grease off, never mix different types of grease.

  • @JoelsBackYard : the lite blue grease is sold for boat trailers, a lot of mechanics like to use it.

  • That's what I have always done working in a garage.
