Injuries and Illnesses: A Jonas Family Story~Chapter 57

Denise's POV

For the past week, Paul and I have been trying to find somewhere to stay in Mexico. Its hard to find somewhere cheap that will fit out entire family. Dani's treatments have basically drained us of money, and now not only do we have to move to Mexico for couple months, but we also have to pay for more treatments. After about a week of searching, we finally found a little cottage to move into. I'm not sure it will be big enough for us, but its the best we can find. I called an agent in Mexico and rented the house. Now comes the hard part. We have to tell the kids that we are moving.

Paul and I called a family meeting the next day. All the kids gathered in the living room, even poor Dani who was so weak at the point, she could barely keep her eyes open. She needs this. Thats the only thing keeping me going. I know if I give up that she'll give up, and we can't let that happen. Not to our baby girl. She is too young to die.

"What is this meeting about?" Nick asked. "Regan and I are going to the movies!"
"Yeah Mom.. I have a date with Molly in like an hour.." Kevin trailed.
"Yeah! And--" Joe was cut off.
"Kids, we have some news.." Paul began. Tears started to well in my eyes.
"Why does mom look like she is going to cry?" Lexi questioned, becoming worried. "What is going on?"
"We are moving away for a couple of months. Its the only way for Dani to get treatmeant.." I sighed, not letting my tears pour over. I had to stay strong for the kids. This is going to be hard on them. I could tell from the shocked and upset looks on their face.
"But what about Serena!" Joe yelled. "What if I never get to see her again!"
"Shh.. You'll all get to see your friends again. We'll be back once Dani's treatment is done." Paul said calmly.
"Where are we moving?" Kevin asked.
"Mexico.." I sighed, looking down. I couldn't stand to see the hurt expression on my children's faces.
"When are we leaving?" Lexi asked.
"Tomorrow morning..." Paul answered.
"I'm going to say bye to Regan.." Nick said saidly. He got up and walked out.
"Same. I need to tell Molly goodbye.." Kevin sighed, leaving the room also.
"Yeah.. me too. Serena deserves a goodbye." Joe left.
"And Glydel does too. Bye Mom. I'll be back later." Lexi stood and left the room, walking out of the house.
"I need to talk to Melanie.." Dani said weakly, pulling out her cell phone and dialing her best friend. I sighed and left the room with Paul.

Nick's POV

I ran down to Regan's house and knocked on her door, tears streaming down my face. Her mom answered the door and lead me to her room.

"Nick!" she shrieked. "Why are you crying?!"
"I-- I'm mo-moving!!" I cried, collapsing into her arms.
"Where? When? Why?!" she questioned.
"M-mexico.. Tomorrow... Dani's treatments.." I sobbed. She leaned in and kissed me.
"Goodbye Nick. I'll see you when you get back" she said.
"B-bye.." I choked out, still shocked from the kiss. I left her house and went back home.

Joes POV

At Serena's house we said goodbye. She told me to tell Dani to feel better. We also agreed to video chat everyday. I wasn't going to let moving get in the middle of my first real relationship. She held me in her arms as I sobbed, but soon I had to go home to pack. She kissed me one last time and I left.

Kevin's POV

Instead of going on my date with Molly, I showed up at her house with the news that we were moving. She immediantly broke down crying. I calmed her down and promised her I'd be back for her. She hugged me tight. I said goodbye to her and kissed her passionately before I left to go home and pack.

Lexi's POV

Glydel totally understood why we were moving. She said goodbye to me and we made a friendship pact to always remain best friends. I can't wait to see her when we get back! I left her house and went home to pack.

Dani's POV

I talked to Melanie on the phone for a couple hours. Mom agreed to let her come to Mexico and move in with us at the beginning of our second week there. I can't wait to get to Mexico. I hope the treatments work. I just want this cancer to be gone!

The family packed all their clothes to go to Mexico. They loaded the suitcases into the car and went to bed. In the morning they are leaving for Juarez, Mexico to begin Dani's new treatments. No one knows if these new treatments will work, but the family feels it is worth the risk. They are doing this because they love Dani. They love their daughter. They love their sister. They want her to live.
