The 1990 Rhythm Nation Tour was Janets 1st ever world tour and established her reputation as a world-class performer who delivers cutting-edge, high-energy, stage spectacles which continue to thrill sell out crowds worldwide. The show became the highest grossing debut tour by any artist in history. The show marked the start of a worldwide tour that will include more than 100 performances in 90 cities in nine months.

The tour grossed over $28 million in the US only from dates reported, and nearly $45 million worldwide (equivalent roughly to $180 million, based on 2008 average ticket price).

Estimated worldwide attendance at 2 million, with more than 1.65 million in North America alone coming from 91 shows.

Janets four LA shows sold out in 48 minutes.

The May 18th show in Tokyo, Japan was shot in HD and aired on Japanese television in full, spliced with 2 commercial Janet had recorded for JAL Airlines.

Pioneer signed an exclusive deal to release the concert on laser disc only and thus no video or DVD has yet been released.

I was at this concert when it came to DC,and I can tell you it was absolutely AMAZING. I have been to every tour since.
