  • Sorry but the videos I've seen do not substantiate "murder", it pretty clearly appears to be an accident.

Drunk driving accidents are COMPLETELY different than involuntary manslaughter, and they are sentenced differently for a reason.

All these comments about "What if it was your kid"...I got one.."What if the cop was your dad", and he accidentally killed someone in the line of duty, you'd want him sentenced to life? No, you wouldn't, stop fronting.

  • There is an awful double standard that perpetuates crime and poverty. And he brought it up. In Oakland a black man is killed every 4 days. And there is no riot , no vigil, no outrage. But when a white guy does it, there is a riot. It's just as evil. So 1 black man is killed by a cop, but 62 families in 2010 lost a member. I would really like to see the same reactions to the murders happening every day. As a minority ,I've never bought into seeing myself as a victim , only a volunteer.

  • Why is it If you are rich, or in any position of authority the law doesn't apply to you. And finally to all of you with you he's a thug comments how would you feel if Oscar was your son, family member or friend would you not want justice?? People just stop and think about what message we are sending here.

  • In my personal opinion he could have received the maxim sentence because if that's not murder I don't know what is. And to Smahsem why not treat a murder the same as any other murderer that's the problem with the law as long as the person who commits a crime is a cop or any other government officer its OK. It's ok for them to kill whoever or do whatever. And it's not right the law should be the same for everyone and we all know its not.

  • The only thing BART police do is caught people who are trying to not pay their fare and my question to that is do they really need guns for that? The fact that BART has "BART Police Officers" is a joke. The sad part to all this is had there been no videos of the shooting the polices would have said he was resisting arrest. The bottom line is life is life. Oscar was handcuffed with a man's knee in his back and Mehserle still believe it was nessacry to taze him??

  • the sentence was a joke and it was wrong. And as far as BART police go they don't put their life on the line other than this how many other killings are reported on BART??? AC Transit is more dangerous than BART and that transit system doesn't have it's own police officers. I mean really how many serious crimes take place or BART??? There are cameras in the station, outside the station, in the parking lot, on the platform, on the train, etc... I I mean everywhere so where can they commit one?

  • jpatrickbad First off you shouldn't talk about what you don't know did you know Oscar?? Or are you just assuming he was a thug. Because I knew him my family knew him and he wasn't a thug but regardless of him being a thug or not nothing gives someone the right to kill a person for no reason. The fact is Black or White it doesn't matter murder is murder. Mehserle shot that man in his back for what??? What Shawn is saying is right

  • accident or not, a life was lost. And whether you want to admit it or not, u have 2 face the consequences. More than 85% of drunk drivers accidently kill ppl, but they still

get more than 2 years. If Oscar Grant was your relative, your argument would be much diffrent.

  • look at my little cuzzin

  • fuck you @ jpatrickbad
