When Final Fantasy Tactics was originally released in the US a few things were cut from the original Japanese version, most notably four interactive story books. The only one to be included in the US version at all was the Germonik Scriptures. Even in the rerelease of FFT on the PSP these four story books were not included.

This video shows off the books in the original Japanese release, specifically the story book "Diary of Nanai". This particular one is very interactive with the player taking the role of a gambler on his last coins trying to gamble out of the hole he has dug himself at the Chocobo Race track. Obviously it is all in Japanese but you choose different dialog trees to get information on the which are the favored Chocobos and hope you put your money on the right one. Sorry if it is a bit slow and boring in a foreign language but very few US players get a chance to see these in action.

As part of a game hacking project these books are being attempted to be reinserted into the US version of FFT and translated so that fans may experience them. The name of this project is "Final Fantasy Tactics: Complete" and if you would like to learn more or assist you can check out these two links.
