I prefer paints from Alexander Art. They are high quality, often priced lower than other brands meant for wet on wet painting, and I get consistent results with them every time.

  • Have you tired other oil paints besides Alexanderart and Bob Ross stuff?

  • Yes. Georgian oils are of the right consistency and they are high quality paints. In the event Alexander paints were not available, I would use Georgian.

  • How are the color tints of Georgian to Alexander? I bought an Alexander set, but I also got some Georgian for wet on wet. How about the Winton. By the way thanks for your time.

  • @samthomas31 The colors do vary a bit, so if you follow color mixtures from a project that was designed with Alexander paints, but you use Georgian colors, the colors aren't going to look the same. Also, some of the Georgian colors are very intense. Lamp Black comes to mind. It seems to destroy any color it comes in contact with, even if you use a tiny tiny amount.

  • Thank you again! I paint using the wet-on-wet technique and started out by practicing on canvas panels using Liquitex Basics acrylics and a Golden acrylic retarder mixed with white as my own version of "Liquid White" or "Magic White" on a light gray Gessoed-canvas panel. I found acrylics more economical and environmentaly safe and a similar way to learn this style of painting, but once I tried oils on canvas - I became spoiled! Do you prefer Alexander's over Ross' mediums and if so, why?

  • I prefer all Alexander products over Ross products because of quality and price. There is nothing wrong with Ross products, but I personally have found Alexander products to be of higher quality and much more affordable than Ross products. You can visit the respective websites and compare prices and see what I mean.

  • yea that Alexander wood palette is the best

  • Yes i also find the Alexander products superior to Ross's . I have never liked the Liquid white it makes the surface too slick even when I know i have not put on too much (fingerprint test).Magic white is better.I also like Bill's paintings better than Bob's .Bill had a better sense of tone.Happy painting everyone! I

  • What's the song? I know I've heard it before, but I can't remember.

  • My Rating should have been 5 Stars - I apologize!!
