I'm totally with you there gaelicscots! I'm sitting here boiling at this Disney-esque plastic pastiche of "Irishness", really fucks me off. And what the hell are "irish" pipe bands doing marching to British military rhythms and decked out in Scottish regalia? Please! Oh..they could be..'Scotch-Irish'...my arse!

@TypingTreeFrog I'm curious do you people go around on YouTube.Com looking for parades to rain on? Or is Rochester your favorite? Any other customs we have that don't fit into your perfect little world? The one where you got your customs from who? Adam and Eve? Probably having some grog and mimicking the apes ...

@BigCheese462 BTW if you visit the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle website you will find this artilcie
"All things Scottish bring hundreds to Tartan Day" In the cavernous arena of the Main Street Armory, the sound of bagpipes set the tone for the annual National Tartan Day Celebration.
Dozens of people, many wearing some piece of tartan clothing, including kilts, toasted Scottish culture there on Saturday.
"I've always been a bit jealous of the Irish tradition of St. Patrick's Day ... "

@BigCheese462 I'm sure those in your country are proud to have you representing the Scottish Culture ... LOL BTW, how we doing with Santa and the Easter Bunny ?

@BigCheese462 @BigCheese462 Dude, we're not as anal as you. Plop down 75 bux, put on a skirt and play kazoos if you like, if you happen to be Irish that's a bonus ... They got DOG units, some are all Irish Setters, but they got other DOG units that are full of mongrels wearing green ... nobody cares ... Enjoy :)

@BigCheese462 Anybody with $75.00 can enter their group into the parade. There are awards and prizes for best groups, and other competitive aspects, giving winners credibility when they request to take part in larger parades. We love our pipe bands here, they are almost always found at any respectable public event / ceremony this city has. It wasn't long ago there was much hatred for the Irish, in the USA, and Rochester . My Mother was proud to send her kids to school wearing green :)

desperate try hards mate. Wannabe's. Pretty pathetic really.
They have their own culture, tradition and way of life. Why do they need to pretend to be Irish?
Italian Americans get on my fucking tits as well. All they ever say is "mama" and "spaghetti" in heavy Italian accents.
Irish Americans, Italian Americans. Wake up you silly twats. You're not even from the same continent as Ireland and Italy.

The city of Rochester was built by Irish immigrants. Per population ratio it is one of the biggest celebrations in the entire country. And yes, to some of us it is a celebration of our heritage.
