@Draginy Blijkbaar toch niet goed opgelet! Willem van Nassau was stadhouder van Holland, Zeeland, Utrecht, Friesland en Overijssel. De enige koningen waren Willem 1, Willem 2 en Willem 3 en Willem 1 regeerde pas vanaf 1814. De Tachtgjarige Oorlog was van 1568 tot 1648 en daarin speelde Willem van Oranje een grote rol tot hij in 1584 werd neergeschoten.

Sigh, Wilhelmus van Nassau was a German. But he had to move to the Netherlands. Later he loved Netherland and he had to be king of it. He was one of the greatest king of the Netherlands. Our flag is orange because his last name was Oranje (Orange). That is what they teached me at the school.

@12juliette12 het is niet apart, omdat willem van oranje van zijn ouders een goede opvoeding moest hebben, dus hebben ze hem naar het Spaanse hof gestuurd en daar leerde hij Filips kennen

Ook al was willem van oranje dan stadhouder voor de koning van Spanje.. Vind ik de regel " den koning van hispanje heb ik altijd geëerd" raar, aangezien Willem van Oranje en Filips de 2de vijanden waren in de tachtig jarige oorlog.. Of ben ik de enige die dit toch een beetje apart vind?

@Draginy Allow me to clarify any of this. William ( Willem ) was born in the house of Nassau (Germany). After being sent to Brussel to acquire the required education he inherited the Pricipality of Orange. Since that time he was known as, William of Orange-Nassau (Willen van Oranje-Nassau).
