  • Ok - sorry, I misunderstood...

    I use SAA Artist watercolour (see saa.co.uk), and Winsor & Newton Artist watercolour. I also use tubes instead of pans - that may be part of your problem - if they're drying with a dirty finish, that would usually point to dodgy pigment, not a paper issue - I'd recommend buying a new set of paints (preferably Artist quality).

  • @misty308 Yes, watercolor paper is important. Regular paper will just get wavey and wrinkled. Normal paper absorbs too much water. It is not thick enough to withstand watercolor. You can go to a local art supply store or order it online and purchase it.
