An introduction to Gymnastics. Origin of the word "gymnastics". What is this sport? The work of judges in the competition. Tatiana Nabieva, Aliya Mustafina, Nailya Mustafina, Ramilya Musina & etc are in this documentary.
What you need to do is combine the strength of the olympic artistic gymnast together with the flexibility of the modern gymnast and train in ballet, jazz and interpretive dance. The result, if created properly, will spare the children injury (and a crippling adulthood) and also, be extraordinarily appealing. Get a grip, please.
Second, when the 'sport' demands the child to assume extremely unnatural positions (i.e. frontal neck laying on ground with bum touching head and knees tucked under body...well, you're talking circus contortionists here. Again, I will remind you these are children
As a former gymnast/coach/choreographer/judge, I have this to say about the modern state of gymnastics. First, when a gymnast breaks a leg, or pops out a knee as a result of landing in a relatively upright position (both feet on the ground, knees almost squarely over hips), there's a problem. The impact delivered by the stunt is too high. These are children, with a full life to lead.

(there are children in the morning,
leaning out for love,
they will lean that way forever).
