New Maple Town Story - Palm Town Chapter (The Movie) Part 2 of 4

This "movie" is the first episode of Palm Town, Maple Town's sequel series, padded out with an extended flashback taken from Maple Town's final two episodes.

Patty arrives in Palm Town with Aunt Jane and meets her Uncle George, who is both a doctor and a cook (although sadly not a ninja). We also meet Nurse Alice, who pantomimes a sequence that will likely come off as a set of non-sequiturs to any non-Japanese-speaking viewers. The story that happens is that she shows up to inform Jane that there's a patient who wants her (and not George) to examine him, and there's another patient who wants George (and not Jane) to fix him lunch. The two respond in exaggerated fashion to realizing that their traditional roles have been magically reversed. Still cute, in a shrinking violet sort of way.

Heh. Well, I'll agree that 1. most Western cartoons these days fail to appeal to me and 2. most of the good stuff comes from Japan.

(But you'll never get me to say anything bad about Transformers Animated. :3)

This said, if you like this and Maple Town, you might want to give my fan translation work on the Sylvanian Families games a look sometime. My ultimate goal is to translate all seven games someday (right now the count stands at two ^_^;).

I don't know exactly how it ends, but I do know that Patty is called back to Maple Town in the finale. This info comes from a set of transcripts of the series' "next episode" teasers; I forget where I found it, though.

His name's George, which is pronounced either "Jooji" or "Jooju" (in this case it's "Jooji", so it sounds like "Georgie"). FYI, he's making fried ice cream.

While we're talking about prominent characters whose names I forgot to give, Rolley's parents are Dahlia and Palabra, and her younger brother is Peter.

As for who would win? I'd say Greter. He's actually armed, for one thing. All Yota and Guta have is cool shades. XD

These shows were much more endearing and sincere than cartoons today.

Cartoons today are badly drawn and mainly cater to kids with short attention spans; cultivating gradiose self-perceptions and aggressive tendencies.
