what you are failing to realise is
those 80s drum machines were DRUM MACHINES not sample bassed pad style workstaions, there were simply for playing drums and not for playing samples of lead instruments cut chopped and rearranged.
the mpc60 (and even more so the 3000) changed the game (in regards to hip hop) producion wise.
the pad lay out of this machine is BIG a step backwards and not in a good way.

@ceetheproducer The first drum machine was disigned like this, hip hop artists of the 80s did just fine, probably better.
-
@ceetheproducer find a new method, are you afraid of change?
-
NO NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
WHAT IS HE THINKING???????????????????
THE PADS MUST BE 4 BY 4 IN A 16PAD SQUARE!
IF NOT THEN IT CAN NOT BE USED TO PRODUCE HIP HOP MUSIC!
HIP HOP WAS BASICLY BUILT AROUND PRE CHOPPIN A SAMPLE N LAYIN IT OUT THEN CUTTIN IT INTO 1/4S U THEN PUT A 1/4 TO EACH PAD, 4 1/4S (1 ROW OF PADS ON THE DRUM PAD) GIVE YOU A BAR, GIVIN YOU THE OPTION TO TAP OUT YOU ORIGINAL ARRAGMENT LIVE AND IMPROVISE ON THE FLY!
every 4 pads =1 bar
wat the fuck is he doin?
