Armed terrorists storm Police Training Centre Manawan - March 30, 2009

A gang of armed terrorists equipped with sophisticated weapons Monday morning stormed the Police Training Centre, here killing 8 under-training personnel and causing injuries to 71 recruits in the exchange of indiscriminate firing here on Monday. DIG, Investigation Lahore Mushtaq Sukhera told newsmen here that a gang of about 13 terrorists stormed the training Centre when under training police officials were busy in routine drill. The terrorists lobbed hand grenades at the gate of the training centre and opened fire resulting in death of eight under training police personnel, and injuries to a number of others. DG, Rescue 1122 Punjab, Dr. Rizwan Naseer said 71 police trainees of Manawan Training Centre sustaining pellets and bullet injuries shifted to different hospitals for medical treatment. A battalion of elite force commandoes of Punjab Police later joined by valiant troops of Pakistan Rangers supported with helicopters of Pakistan Army Aviation have taken position in the centre and endeavouring to flush out the terrorists from the gory scene.The entire area from all directions has been cordoned off for security purpose. The Commandoes of Pakistan Rangers along with Punjab Police have successfully entered the centre premises from rooftop of the training centre building and started the operation to rescue the marooned personnel besides shooting the terrorists on the spot. A fleet of 14 ambulances of Rescue 1122 is shifting the victims to Services Hospital while emergency has been declared in all other hospitals for providing immediate medical cover. The Lahorites of the local area who are known for their acts of bravery present on the scene were boosting the morale of the operation forces engaged in carrying out the operation against terrorists. Capital City Police Officer Add Inspector General of Police Haji Habib Ur Rehman and other senior officers have reached on the spot while a battalion of commandoes of Pakistan Rangers headed by a Lt.Col is leading the operation. Much appreciation shown towards the Pakistan Army & SSG who have taken a bold opportunity to train the bewildered Pakistan police services in Anti Terrorist Training. This is desperately needed to defend the main towns/cities against the bastard enemies of Pakistan. A new highly disciplined and well trained police force in every province of Pakistan.
