Pulling up the prawn traps from 400 feet, you never know what else might be trapped. In this case, it's a Giant Pacific Octopus.
Traps were set just out from Powell River Sea Kayak's site on Okeover Inlet - near Desolation Sound, BC.

  • did you release it?

  • Yes. We put it in a bucket of saltwater for a few minutes to

observe it. We then let it slip back into the ocean.

  • hope you let him free

  • @Cnidarious

to take just one octopus once a year: is good

  • @TheyCallMeMrHappy

As long you rub it well with salt and rinse with water to remove the slime, there shouldn't be much of a problem.

  • it should have been able to get out by itself

  • @nefarioustoast obviously not, this one forgot his gun at home.

  • so you eat the prawns but not octopus? They is delicious! just don't over-cook 'em they end up like rubber.

  • @prseakayak Did you film it?? Can we see it?? I like seeing the whole thing. :)
