Speaker Bio:
Muslema Purmul was born in Raleigh, North Carolina and raised in San Diego, California. She received a Bachelor's Degree in the Study of Religion and a Bachelor's in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of California at San Diego. She has served the Muslim Students' Association, MSA West and the Muslim American Society (MAS) in various capacities, is an active MAS member, and a scholarship student with the Islamic American University. Muslema and her husband, Jamaal Diwan, participated in the International Union of Muslim Scholars "Future Scholars Program" in 2008/2009. They are currently pursuing Bachelor's degrees in the College of Shari`ah at al-Azhar University in Cairo, and Master's degrees from the American University in Cairo in Arabic Studies with an emphasis in Islamic Studies.

To their credit Muslims dont seem hung up on race as sad to say sometimes White Christians have been; it's women and infidels they (Muslims) wont be fair with! I mean really. When was the last time Christians called for death by beheading over a cartoon?!?!?!

Ma'sha'allah, excellent talk Sr. Muslema!! I LOVE these ISR videos. This was a very relevant topic to address, so glad you chose this topic. It's an issue that the younger generation is facing, as int he example you gave, regarding marriage. I am definitely going to write a little something about this and attach this video on a blog post where I try to write about the idea of unity/brotherhood/sisterhood.
