1. Don't be a hypocrite! How much effort are you putting into understanding their new forms of communication? (Social Media, txting, etc)
2. Set the Example: Involve your children in your social life. Let them play "grown-up" sometimes and meet your friends.
3. Set the table: Have nightly dinners with your family.
4. Take turns toasting: Toasting at family dinner? Yes! Get your children used to public speaking as young as possible. It's one of the most vital skills in life.
5. Activities! Get your kid involved early on in an organization that promotes and rewards offline social interaction
6. "No-tech" family outings: you set the example first - ditch the crackberry! Leave the cell phones at home and do something fun. inviting your kids' friends family to the outing makes things even more fun (and easier to convince the kids to part with their cell!)

Keith,
I'm always grateful for your passion and dedication that you share with others. It's so true, as parents, we are the mirrors to our children, create rituals and state your values to your children while being open to theirs also....
My daughter, Luminous is 8 and we have so much fun seeing the world through her eyes and then mine...it's a balance and we are both so appreciative of our equality.
Look forward to interviewing you soon....:)
