Absolutely great performance! - makes me almost cry everytime I hear it. Was this recorded just for this ARTE documentation (does anyone have a link to it?), or is it on ones of Joan's records?

I do not know. It is not specified in the credits. The TV show was 2010 (90 minutes) with lots of excerpts, films of his family, his childhood. For this concert, just a few songs (4 or 5) short extracts.

@basilemarie Thanks for your prompt response. I did some more research and found out myself: The video is an excerpt from a documentation published by PBS in 2009 in the "American Masters" series: "Joan Baez: How sweet the sound". it was also aired on ARTE in France and Germany.

But I still don't know if this recording is published somewhere. I know of two other interpretations, one on "ring them bells", and on on "imagine". But this one here I like best, because it has the most depth.

Yes, I did not know this song bele. I thought she was new, a call from a woman 60 years and abandoned. I was almost disappointed to learn that she wrote this song at 31 years I must be part of those who regret not having known her (Joan). A very beautiful woman

Attention à la traduction un peu trop conservatrice de ce locuteur français. Joan parle d'une relation intime avec son public comme substitut à une relation avec une autre personne. La transcription en anglais en sous-titre parle d'une autre relation avec un homme ainsi que la traduction française, alors que Joan parle d'avec une personne. ( voir 1.17) Elle dit aussi "I was very promiscuous" et la traduction rapporte: j'aii été une femme très libre..." Juste ce point là.

oui c'est vrai. Je n'ai pas compris pourquoi cette différence (autre personne - homme).

être "libre" en France, veut dire sans attache à une personne, qui ne respecte pas les règles puritaines. Ce n'est pas ce que Joan voulait dire ?
