You're welcome! Another detail: after he slightly displaced the 8 with the double-banked 6, he would now have had to hit the combination (IF he chose it!) on the high side, meaning, he would need to go wide with the cue ball, as the 2 is likely to end up on the side rail. In order not to get stuck over a ball, one tends to shoot this with inside English, but chances are one ends up with a straight-in shot on the 2. Which he wanted to avoid, but ended up getting anyhow... That's pool/life! ;^)

The reason it looks like must be that as tall as he is, he couldn't reach the combination (without using the rest, that is), and really, either solution's as good as the other, especially from the perspective of a world class Rotation player (kiss shots come up there on a regular basis).
