Ronnie Milsap, (I'd Be) A Legend In My Time/The Biggest Lie, RCA Victor PB-10112, 45 rpm (1974).
written by Don Gibson

If heartaches brought fame
In love's crazy game
I'd be a legend in my time
If they gave gold statuettes
For tears and regrets
Id be a legend in my time

But they dont give awards
And theres no praise or fame
For a heart that's been broken
over love thats in vain

If loneliness meant world acclaim
Ev'ryone would know my name
I'd be a legend in my time

But they dont give awards
And theres no praise or fame
For a heart that's been broken
Over love thats in vain

If loneliness meant world acclaim
Then ev'ryone would know my name
I'd be a legend in my time
I'd be a legend in my time

  • My favorite Ronnie Milsap song...a real heartbreaker when you listen to the words. They don't write enough Country music like this anymore...thank you for posting.

  • This is one of the most powerful songs ever written and only Ronnie can sing it with so much feeling. Ronnie has such a terrific voice and style. He always sounds so warm and all of his songs are the best. Thank you for posting. - Paula

  • Beautiful song and the piano is gorgeous.

  • @tmdinosaur It is a real heartbreaker and, when he sings it, I really feel like crying but he is just playing and singing the song like a fine actor playing a part. There is no one like him.
