I hate when people hate on Apollo in these comments. This scene isn't meant to be degrading to Apollo, but rather to praise Rocky. Creed fought his heart out. Could have won on points but chose to go for the knockout or nothing. Apollo is one of the best antagonists in cinema history. Much respect.

If you watch this fight and Rocky III, it takes fives 'punches' by Rocky before they both fall to the canvas. Odd that they would pick that number.

You've got to respect Creed. Had he stayed away, he would have easily beaten him. He "takes a shot" & tries to knock Rocky out, & it comes back to ruin him. You have my respect Apollo. 
Unfortunately for Apollo, Rocky was unconquerable in this fight.

Apollo's weakness has been pride. Pride wouldn't allow him to just stay away from Rocky in the final round of Rocky II..pride wouldn't let him stay retired when the fictional sportsworld began to rave about Ivan Drago in Rocky IV..and finally pride wouldn't allow him to devote some extra time to learn more of who he was fighting in Drago (particularly Drago's borderline superhuman strength). Pride turned out to be the death of Apollo.
