Well after deciding that i wished to upload some random blues, i realized i didn't have a mic or anything recording equipment. Rummaging through a black sack i found some old beaten up headphones with a mic attached. Great huh!?

Wrong..

Using the Sound Recorder on windows i had to tape the backing track then tape a lead part which i did as a 'test run'. What i didn't realize was that i could not play lead as well as listen to the backing track on my computer, so through much turmoil i had to play the track in my lounge two doors away and try and jam in my room next to the mic then overlap the two tracks together which was insanely hard as once i had pressed play in the lounge i then had to run to my room and press record, this meant the two overlapping tracks were out of sync badly, so through much deliberation i managed to get them just about in time, you will notice the lead is slightly early! By this time i had done only 10mins of playing and 3hrs of screwing around with the useless and by now infamous to me ' Sound Recorder'. So at the end of that stressful ordeal i decided i could not be arsed to try and do another take on the lead so i do apologize as it is full of tremendous sloppy mistakes (partly due to red wine) haha.

Anyway, enough excuses. I hope people go easy as i am self taught and quite literally have no clue in terms of theory and all that bollocks so any pointers would be much appreciated!!

Take with a pinch of salt lol.

Equipment used :- 1 x Tanglewood Acoustic with old strings - yes my fingers are now bleeding.

  • Haha thanks dude. Funny now that this is half a year old. Since ive been out here in Australia i have improved a great deal i think!! Mostly due to mixing with some great players..

But i still have a soft spot for pure drunken blues! :P

  • sounds awesome

  • Well played Sam! I can really hear that you been inspired by the Green God. We must have a cold beer in Brisbane if you ever come up here. Regards from Stina and Lars (from the Peter Green gig @ The Basement). :)

  • Yeah i totally agree, this somewhat unusually aggressive for me. I put it down to first time recording and the wine, i listen back and cringe lol. No idea why i am attacking so much all the time.

I much prefer something more subtle, just that with my crappy acoustic you really have to ' play it hard ' to get any noise out of it.

  • Glad I came across this. Oh Yehhhhh!
