sometimes both are great. another example if you have never heard Chris Cornell sing Black hole sun unplugged by himself(yahoo version), do it, its plain mesmerizing

Some songs and bands sound better live(or unplugged). Silversun pickups being a great example(there unplugged is way better then studio). Even though I would still love to hear 1979 sang in person, the studio version sounds better(more mellow).
