  • Only issue with the one piece plugs is that when they do break (they can) you'll be removing heads to get them out

  • Ford put out a tsb which does not work, plugs still break off.Have the lisle tool, part number 65600 on hand which extracts the broken piece.Buy the one piece Champion #7989 plugs which are $25.00 a piece

  • @isaacaaron4jesus i hear ya the Japanese make great vehicles. i cannot bring myself to buy one.i try to buy as much American made as i can but its getting harder every day. my brother has a fleet of ford vans out of the 10 trucks 2 blew plugs out this is a design flaw and ford should repair free. but they dont.

  • @O7ROADKING Remember toyota and lexis were killing people last year. might wanna go with a honda.

  • i did a 2001 ford f150 5.4 triton engine today, i didnt seem that dificult to me

i did it in about 4 hours the ones in the right side feel esier than the driver side

  • I did mines yesterday 1st time and I had to be patient it took 15 minutes taking it apart and 2 hours changing it 1 hour putting back together driver side plugs are easy passanger plugs the 2 close ones to the firewall are a bi$&#!! 01 expedition 5.4 102,000 miles 1st owner plugs never broke on me i know it happens when ur to cheap to change them when u need to thats y they break cause it happend on my girls 05 4.6 v8 140,000 and she never ask me to change them.

  • i over tighten a the bolt and it broke off do you know any techniques i could remove it with or any tools?

  • It can be done, but its best to get it sooner than later. I've done mine and the best is to use a air gun to blow our the hole, then do what dgman20 did soak the plug hole with penetrating oil and purchase the spark plug tool sold by lisle meant just for the 5.4 and 4.6 motors. You can do it but be patient!

  • dont buy another ford because they made a mistake using two piece plugs that they had no idea would be a problem 80k miles later??? just deal with the problem by getting prepared and doing it yourself or pay the shop and move on

  • I have 2 2004 Ford , What a piece of shit . I will never go back to buy another Ford . Already spent 350 to change the spark plugs , 8 of 8 spark plugs break in half . Yes I did follow the procedure . Tool to remove it works great , GET IT IN EBAY BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO CHANGE YOURS . Tool is named : LIL 65600

Also in my F150 two window regulators broke , the 2004 Expedition blow the transm cause Ford forgot to place a ring retain . And alternator was replaced just at 30k miles on both trucks
